Among the downstream products of methanol, who is aware of DMF (dimethylformamide)? What are the chain-extension products of 1,4-butanol? I only know that PU slurry is one of the downstream products of DMF. What is its reaction formula? Are there any other products? Are there any other derivative products of 1,4-butanediol besides **furan, butyraldehyde, and polyester resins?** Also, how do all these listed ones respond? I hope you all can give me some guidance! 1,4-butanediol dehydrates to form **furan (oxolane)**; Dehydrogenation yields γ-butyrolactone. Polyester resin is a very broad term; I’m not sure how to respond? Please give me some advice!
An important use of 1,4-butanediol is in the production of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), which is one of the five major engineering plastics. It is primarily used in the electronics and electrical industry, as well as in the automotive and machinery industries, and is produced through the polycondensation of terephthalic acid and 1,4-butanediol.
Another research hotspot is the biodegradable material polybutylene succinate (PBS), which has a wide range of applications, including use in packaging, tableware, cosmetic and pharmaceutical bottles, disposable medical products, agricultural films, materials for the controlled release of pesticides and fertilizers, as well as in biomedical polymer materials.
Dimethylformamide (DMF) is an excellent solvent used for the wet spinning of synthetic fibers such as polyacrylonitrile fibers, the synthesis of polyurethanes, aromatic extraction, as well as the separation and recovery of butadiene from the C4 fraction and isoprene from the C5 fraction. So, what is mentioned on the first floor regarding the ability to produce PU resins refers to the solvent effect of DMF, rather than it being a major raw material consumed in this process. I heard that DMF can also be used as a fragrance; has anyone heard of that?
