Is the technology for converting methanol to dimethyl ether mature in China at present?
Of course it’s matured now; dimethyl ether is produced from methanol these days!
It has reached the million-ton level and can now be produced, but capacity is already nearing excess.
It is quite mature now. The new projects currently under development in the country are basically all at a scale of 200,000 tons or more. The technologies and catalysts developed by Sichuan Tianyi Technology hold a certain level of authority in this industry. The manufacturing processes from a few years ago were basically those introduced from Germany. As a clean energy source, dimethyl ether is bound to be widely used in the near future. It is believed that, just like methanol, it has a bright future ahead.
The dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether is a relatively mature process; currently, more research is being focused on the process of producing dimethyl ether from syngas in a single step.
The manufacturing processes are certainly those used by Southwest and Jiutai. At present, overcapacity exists due to issues such as the promotion of dimethyl ether-based gas appliances
