What are the characteristics and developments of spherical tanks?
Spherical tanks have developed rapidly in China, with an increasing number of units involved in their design, manufacture, and use; as a result, China has long established JB standards for such tanks. The nominal volumes are 50, 120, 200, 400, 650, 1000, and 2000, with corresponding inner diameters of Φ4500, Φ6100, Φ7100, Φ9200, Φ10700, Φ12300, and Φ15700 respectively. The nominal pressures range from 0.44, 0.78, 0.98, 1.57, 2.16, to 2.94 MPa. The steel grades selected are A3R, 15MnVR, 16MnR, and 16MnCuR. It has developed rapidly in recent years, with spherical tanks moving toward larger sizes; large spherical tanks with capacities of 4000 m3, 8000 m3, and 10000 m3 are being continuously built and used in China.
