How to determine the appropriate spacing between baffle plates? What formula is used to calculate it?
The spacing between baffle plates is generally determined through process calculations. The minimum spacing between baffle plates, according to GB151 5.9.5.2, is usually not less than one-fifth of the inner diameter of the cylinder, nor less than 50 mm; in special cases, a smaller spacing may also be used. ”The maximum unsupported span is given in 5.9.5.3.
The spacing between baffle plates is generally not less than 1/5 of the inner diameter of the shell, and not less than 50 mm; it shall not exceed the maximum unsupported spacing. The principle for determining this value is to adopt a higher flow velocity as long as the pressure drop requirements are met, in order to improve the heat transfer coefficient between the tubes.
1. In accordance with GB151, it is required that the maximum span without support for the heat exchange tubes be satisfied. 2. Depending on the process conditions, optimization is carried out between the shell-side pressure drop (\"flow rate\", which has a greater impact especially when gas flows through the shell side) and the heat exchange area. With other conditions constant, a smaller span increases the shell-side pressure loss and also raises the heat transfer coefficient.
1. Meet the requirements of GB151 in terms of strength and structural layout; 2. Meet process requirements (such as resistance, thermal performance) ; 3. Meet assembly requirements (easy pipe insertion). :)
