I think I can be considered a veteran member of Haichuan as well; I’ve always treated Haichuan like my own home, feeling that it is a place where there is equality, friendship, and mutual assistance. I believe many members share this feeling. Initially, I joined Haichuan to download materials, but over time, with the aim of improving my skills, I found myself falling in love with it without even realizing it. I remember not long ago, Haichuan was shut down for 8 hours. I think many users, just like me, were extremely anxious on that day, checking Haichuan every 10 minutes or so to see if the servers had been repaired. Could it be that these long-time users are all eager to improve their skills? Or download the materials? I don’t think so entirely, right? At least I really like the atmosphere of equality, friendship, and mutual assistance at Hai Chuan. I remember that Taomu Chaoban once asked me whether I would still use Haichuan if there were no technical discussions or relevant materials available there. I replied firmly that I would, because Haichuan has Taomu as its moderator. Although that was a compliment, it’s true that there are many friends I love on Haichuan. When I’m free, I often go out to spend money on the internet; maybe the reason is simply to get Haichuan’s red envelope. My wife asks why I’m still in such a hurry to level up I ask myself the same question: if I already have enough wealth from downloads, why bother upgrading? But now, we regular members have fewer and fewer privileges – we can no longer rate charm, and we can only assign low scores in terms of wealth. The gap in rights between me and the moderators is also growing larger; I can already sense this inequality in our status. Maybe they used to be friends with the boss, but now it feels like a superior-subordinate relationship. As a form of protest, I decided not to post or give ratings for half a month. I support the earliest rating system, the version where members could rate attractiveness. Only time will tell whether the current regulations are good or bad! The boss definitely won’t allow the conversion of RMB into wealth. In that case, some level of inflation isn’t a big deal!

The upper limit has been reduced, but the total amount has increased as well; in other words, the number of rating opportunities has gone up, eliminating the hassle of seeing great posts that haven’t received any ratings. The level of permission to assign scores does not affect communication and learning; our goal is not to score, but to learn and communicate. Rating is a supplementary tool for communication. Any adjustments made to the forum are implemented after careful consideration by the forum administrator.
