Does the screw pump come equipped with a safety valve?/
The outlets of positive displacement pumps should be equipped with safety valves to prevent damage to the pump and other safety incidents in case the outlet valve closes for various reasons.
According to regulations, a safety valve must be installed at the outlet of a screw pump. However, this safety valve serves only to protect the pump itself. When the pressure at the pump’s outlet increases for some other reason and the safety valve opens, the fluid at the outlet flows back to the inlet. After a short period of time – ranging from a few minutes to several dozen minutes – the temperature of the fluid rises due to the heat generated from the conversion of mechanical energy. Since the screw pump operates based on clearance fit, this can cause the pump to get stuck, resulting in irreversible damage to the pump, as well as damage to other mechanical components as well.
They usually come with safety valves, but high-temperature pumps do not.
