These basic data should be easy to find; you probably haven’t looked them up yet. TEMPERATURE: C 40, 60, 70. CP: KCAL/KG – C 0.627, 0.666, 0.687. DENSITY: KG/M3 – 773.332, 753.915, 743.777. THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY: KCAL/HR·M – C 0.16774, 0.16307, 0.16084. VISCOSITY: CP – 0.45096, 0.34764, 0.30687. DELTA H: KCAL/KG – 269.4, 262.8, 259.1
I checked, and in the chemical process design manuals, some values are different from those given above. For pure methanol at 40° and 50°, the density is 770 and 760 (kg/m3); the specific heat is 1.22 and 1.15 (kcal/kg·℃); the thermal conductivity is 0.176 and 0.1735 (kcal/m·h·℃); and the viscosity is 0.455 and 0.39 (in units of 10^3 Pa·s). Its specific heat value is incorrect – according to my research, it should be around 0.6, even at temperatures over 100°
Does methanol have a higher specific heat than water? Check that again carefully.
Where can I find this data? Is it by reading diagrams in a chemical process design manual? Is there any other place where I can check?
