Is there any software available for calculating V-cones? Who has it? Could you please provide it? Thank you
The theoretical calculation formula for the V-cone flowmeter should be the same as that for orifice plates, but the selection of certain coefficients differs. Since it is not a standard throttling device, there is no unified standard calculation software; each manufacturer surely has its own calculation software, which remains confidential.
There is no standard calculation software; the company whose product you choose will be responsible for carrying out the calculations. Therefore, you cannot select a manufacturer that is unable to perform such calculations on its own, as this will lead to inaccurate results when using their product, and that would be problematic for you.
Is it all left to the manufacturer to calculate? I took a look at the calculation formulas on the sample and found that some parameters are unknown; for example, C—the discharge coefficient, the pressure difference ΔP, and the equivalent diameter ratio β are also difficult to determine. Does everyone leave these calculations to the manufacturer?
There are standards. Standard iteration formulas for the discharge coefficient, iteration formulas for the expansion coefficient, etc. For manufacturers that do not have iterative formulas for the discharge coefficient, they only design β values that are integers (such as 0.5, 0.55, 0.65, 0.6, etc.). Such calculations involve no iteration; it’s similar to using fixed-orifice plates. Moreover, the expansibility coefficient cannot be calculated iteratively either. It’s unclear where such manufacturers obtain the accuracy of their calculations Is it just about estimating an outflow coefficient and an expandability coefficient, applying them to the flow rate calculation formula to determine the pressure difference? I have compared this method; even a small difference can lead to huge errors.
I have a McC calculation software; tell me your email address and I’ll send it to you.
