The temperature in the sulfur incineration furnace is very high, and the hot gases exiting the furnace need to be cooled. Could coils through which water flows be installed inside the furnace to generate hot water or steam, which could then be used in subsequent processes? I wonder how much heat can be generated by burning 1 ton of pure sulfur? How much water can be heated to boiling under production conditions?
Brother, from what you’ve said it’s clear that you’re not from this industry. Behind the sulfur burning furnaces in sulfuric acid plants, there are usually boilers, and the high-temperature heat you mentioned is utilized by those boilers.
We produce sodium sulfite by burning sulfur; the calorific value of the combustion gases is low, and a large amount of heat in the furnace is wasted, so we aim to save energy. Additionally, the heat from the burned gases is also utilized.
