How should high methanol-water content in low-temperature methanol washing be dealt with? What are the reasons? What are the design reasons?
1. The water content in methanol is high, which increases the load on the methanol-water separation tower. 2. Pure methanol needs to be added to the system, while the contaminated methanol is discharged into the methanol storage tank. Reasons: 1. The temperature of the methanol-water separation tower is too high, resulting in unstable operation of the tower. 2. The water content in the process gas entering the system is increased. 3. Tubes in the water cooler burst. 4. Tubes in the reboiler burst. The problem lies in the design of the temperature control for the methanol-water separation tower, as well as in its load (the steam requirements of the reboiler)
(1) The gas-liquid separation performance of the methanol-water separator is poor; (2) The dehydration efficiency of the methanol-water separation tower is low ; (3) Severe water content in the feed gas ; (4) High content of methanol in water ; (5) High liquid level in the methanol-water separator; water enters the circulating methanol directly. Solution: (1) Appropriately reduce the temperature of the raw gas fed to the wash tower ; (2) Strengthen the operation of the conversion system to prevent water from entering the converted gas ; (3) Appropriately adjust the operation of the methanol-water separation tower to ensure good dehydration performance ; (4) Improve the operation of the methanol-water separator to prevent water from entering the scrubber tower ; (5) Determine the location for addition based on the supplementary methanol water content
Take a look at this post; there are discussions in it! http://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-422452-1-1.html Where does the water in methanol from Dalian’s low-temperature methanol washing process come from?
http://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-373096-1-2.html What are the reasons that can lead to an increase in the methanol content in the wash water?
The high water content is due to poor separation performance in the separation tank, which causes water to be introduced into the system. Or the separation efficiency of the regeneration system is poor
Regarding the processes at Linde and Dalian University of Technology, from a design perspective, in my personal opinion, it mainly relates to the design of the methanol-water separation tower; perhaps during the design phase, sufficient attention was not given to factors such as the height of the tower and the number of trays used in it.
