Calculation of residual sulfur in pyrite slag

Should the sulfur in the slag be calculated as the total sulfur in pyrite minus the available sulfur? I hope experts can give me some advice. Thank you!
In the sulfuric acid industry, the sulfur content referred to usually means available sulfur, whereas in the steel industry it refers to total sulfur.

Samples can be taken to analyze the sulfur content in the slag.
The measurement methods for both are basically the same; the only difference lies in the temperature of the calcined residue sample. The temperature used for measuring available sulfur is 800 degrees, while the temperature used for measuring total sulfur is 1200 degrees (I’m not entirely sure about these specific temperatures as time has passed). The latter also requires burning off the sulfur in sulfates and similar substances to determine it.
