The degreasing and descaling of stainless steel should be carried out in two steps: 1. Degreasing, which can be achieved by using a mixture of trisodium phosphate, sodium silicate, sodium carbonate, as well as non-ionic surfactants with good degreasing properties such as OP-10 and AEO-9. Use an ultrasonic wave at a temperature of 65°C for 2–3 minutes. It can effectively remove oil. 2. The thin oxide film can be removed by acid washing; a suitable mixture consists of 10% nitric acid and 0.5–1% hydrofluoric acid, with a treatment time of 1–10 minutes at room temperature. Note that after pickling, it should be neutralized with a weak base to ensure that the stainless steel surface is not acidic after cleaning. For copper workpieces, water-based cleaners can cause oxidation if not used properly.
