I’m wondering if anyone is familiar with the selection of compensators in hot blast stove systems. I have a few questions and would appreciate it if experts could help me answer them: 1. Should compensators be installed on the flue gas branch pipes? If not, why not? 2. Compensators on the main flue gas pipes are generally used to compensate for the distance between the fixed supports and the heat exchanger; why isn’t compensation needed for the remaining sections of the pipe? 3. Regarding the selection of pressure equalization compensators for the main cold air pipes, when the main cold air pipe is at a 90-degree angle to the cold air inlet, should a bent-type compensator be used? I’m extremely grateful for any help from experts
1. No compensator is needed for the flue gas branch pipes; since the distance between these pipes is short, compensation is not required; 2. The main flue gas duct compensator generally compensates for the distance between the fixed support and the heat exchanger; the remaining section of the pipe relies on natural compensation ; 3. The selection of pressure equalization compensators for the main cold air duct: when the main cold air duct in front of the furnace is at a 90-degree angle to the cold air inlet, a elbow type should be chosen
The first question is that compensators should also be installed if the pipeline is long enough. Calculate whether the stress generated in the pipe material due to thermal expansion at operating temperature is greater than the allowable stress. The second question is essentially the same as the first one. For the third question, a bellows compensator with pressure balance at the branch pipe should be selected.
