Is the air cooler reliability calculated using HTFS+2006 reliable?
Any calculation is merely a calculation, and any simulation is just a simulation. The only thing that is truly reliable is actual testing; only the data from performance tests are the most reliable. The results obtained from simulation calculations are generally under ideal conditions, but in reality, due to various manufacturing factors, the actual outcomes fail to match those of the simulations. Increasing the calculated value a bit should meet the requirements for this operating condition, right? And why are so many fans calculated?
In my opinion, the reliability of the results obtained through software calculations also depends on the user’s thorough understanding of the software’s parameters and settings. No matter how good a software is, if the user does not have a proper understanding of it, accurate results cannot be achieved; using empirical formulas in conjunction with such software makes the calculations more reliable.
The reliability of HTFS depends on the reliability of the performance parameters of the air-cooling units used. Currently, the equipment data provided by domestic air-cooler manufacturers is kept confidential, so what is given to users is incomplete or inaccurately compiled; as a result, the reliability of the calculations made using such data is very low. Ultimately, it is necessary for the manufacturer to redo the design and calculations.

I think it’s fine to use simulations for students, but simulations are absolutely unacceptable in engineering; experiments must be conducted instead.
Currently, I use software to select options in the early stages of a project; before actual construction drawings are prepared, tests must be conducted, and the manufacturer has to carry out the calculations!
