The Yan’an Refinery was established in 1986 and came online in 1988; it is currently part of the Refining and Chemicals Company under Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd., and constitutes one of the key enterprises in the refining and chemicals sector of the Yanchang Petroleum Group. Located between Xi’an and Yan’an, it has ample water, electricity, and land resources, as well as very convenient transportation and communication facilities. The primary processing capacity for crude oil is 8 million tons per year, while the catalytic secondary processing capacity is 3.6 million tons per year for reforming. The main production units included are ones with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year for reforming, 100,000 tons per year for aromatic extraction, 400,000 tons per year for diesel hydrogenation, 300,000 tons per year for liquefied gas purification, 300,000 tons per year for gas separation, 100,000 tons per year for polypropylene production, and 60,000 tons per year for MTBE production. The main products include 90#, 93#, and 95# automotive gasoline, -10#, 0#, and +5# diesel, polypropylene, liquefied gas, 6# and 120# solvent oils, as well as benzene, toluene, xylene, etc. The Yongping Refinery is affiliated with the Refining and Chemicals Company of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. It is located in Yongping Town, Tingchuan County, 70 kilometers north of Baota District in Yan’an City. Throughout history, it has made significant contributions to the victory of the Chinese revolution as well as to the development of the petroleum industry in Shaanxi. Since the reform and opening up, Shuiping Refinery has adhered to the policy of developing the factory through science and technology, focusing on large-scale oil refining operations and continuously increasing its technological level. It has carried out dozens of technical upgrades, gradually evolving into a modern medium-sized oil refining enterprise covering an area of over 40 hectares with assets worth 1.9 billion yuan. It currently has a primary processing capacity of 4.5 million tons per year for crude oil, and a secondary processing capacity of 1.7 million tons per year. It also has capabilities for catalytic reforming at 150,000 tons per year, as well as diesel hydrogenation and ammonia-based antifreeze treatment at 200,000 tons per year. In addition, it boasts various supporting facilities such as those for wind, water, electricity, steam, storage and transportation, product refining, fire protection, and sewage treatment. The plant mainly produces 17 different grades of petroleum products under the “Sanyan” brand, including gasoline, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas. The Yulin Refinery of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. is located in the eastern suburbs of Jingbian County, Shaanxi Province, and was established in 1993. At the beginning of its operation, the plant had a processing capacity of 150,000 tons per year for the primary processing of crude oil, and 70,000 tons per year for secondary processing. After more than a decade of development, the plant now has a primary processing capacity of 1.8 million tons per year for crude oil, and a secondary processing capacity of 720,000 tons per year. The factory covers an area of 688 mu, with total assets amounting to 753 million yuan. Its main products include 90# and 93# lead-free gasoline, diesel fuel ranging from -20# to +10#, as well as liquefied petroleum gas. By the end of 2006, the factory had processed a total of 6.07 million tons of crude oil, generating sales revenue of 1.63 billion yuan, paying taxes worth 1.86 billion yuan, and achieving profits of 1.74 billion yuan. For many consecutive years, the factory has been recognized by the province and city as a “Star Enterprise,” one of the “Top 100 Enterprises,” a “Municipal Civilized Unit,” as well as an “Advanced Enterprise in Honest Tax Payment in Shaanxi Province.”
