Principle: A partition is used to slow down the flow rate of the liquid. As the liquid flows slowly or remains stationary, oil, being lighter than water, floats to the surface of the liquid. Since water can pass beneath the partition while oil is blocked by it, this achieves the separation of oil and water. Oil removal efficiency: The longer the oil removal tank and the greater the number of partitions, the better the oil removal efficiency. It can generally meet the requirements of the production process. The flow rate of our liquid stream is over 750 m3/h; it passes through an oil-separating tank with 10 stages of baffles, and the organic phase content carried in the raffinate is less than 80 ppm. However, the oil separation tank occupies a large area; our length is 50 meters. In terms of cost: It is only necessary to invest in a grease trap with a concrete lining and fiberglass structure; during operation, the liquid flows by gravity due to the height difference, so no energy costs are required. Advantages: Low investment, simple operation, high processing capacity. Disadvantages: It requires a large amount of space, and when the control is not proper, that is, when there is a high amount of organic entrainment, the oil removal efficiency is not very good. If a compressor and micro air tubes can be used to blow microbubbles into the tank, the oil removal effect will be better.
