The largest single-unit cassava fuel ethanol plant in the world is the one located in Beihai, Guangxi. --------------------------- A research team led by Professor Zhang Minhua from the Petrochemical Center at Tianjin University has overcome the key technical barriers that have hindered the development of the cassava fuel ethanol industry. In collaboration with COFCO Group, they have built the world’s largest single-unit cassava fuel ethanol production facility to date. This demonstration project has recently passed technical evaluations, and its production performance indicators meet advanced standards both domestically and internationally. The demonstration plant with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of cassava fuel ethanol was the first non-grain-based cassava fuel ethanol demonstration plant approved by the National Development and Reform Commission during the 10th Five-Year Plan period. During the construction of the demonstration project, Tianjin University developed the technical software package for a demonstration plant capable of producing 200,000 tons per year of cassava fuel ethanol, as well as designed the construction drawings for the main equipment, providing comprehensive technical guidance for the construction and commissioning of the production facility. This project has developed a set of technologies for cassava fuel ethanol with independent intellectual property rights, achieving original innovations in key individual technologies as well as integrated innovations in the entire production process for cassava fuel ethanol. Twelve **patents were applied for, 9 of which have been granted. Tests conducted by relevant authorities have shown that the use of fuel ethanol in gasoline at a concentration of 10% (v/v) can reduce the emissions of CO and CH compounds in vehicle exhaust by 30.8% and 13.4%, respectively. The successful completion of this demonstration project is of great significance for comprehensively improving the technical level of cassava fuel ethanol production in China, enhancing the country’s energy structure, and building up and developing its non-grain fuel ethanol industry
Is there a process diagram for cassava fuel ethanol?
I don’t understand why professors keep dealing with these useless things; the price of cassava starch is several times that of corn starch, and its production is also seasonal – who would want to spend money on such factories?
In Guigang, a cassava stick is upgraded in value through a series of biochemical reactions. Zhang Shulong, deputy general manager of Guangxi Jinyuan Biochemical Industry Co., Ltd., calculated the value addition in detail for the reporters: \"Currently, the price per ton of dried cassava is around 1,800 yuan.\" One ton of dried cassava can be used to produce 0.37 tons of alcohol. The price of alcohol is 7,000 yuan per ton; after further processing, 1 ton of dried cassava, which costs 1,800 yuan, can be turned into alcohol worth 2,600 yuan, representing a value increase of 44%. By reacting 0.37 tons of alcohol with 0.45 tons of acetic acid, 0.65 tons of ethyl acetate can be obtained. The price of acetic acid is no more than 300 yuan per ton, while the price of ethyl acetate reaches 7,000 yuan per ton. In other words, with a total cost of 3,950 yuan, ethyl acetate worth 4,450 yuan can be produced through further processing, resulting in a value increase of 15%. In this way, when cassava costing 1,800 yuan per ton is converted into ethyl acetate, its value can increase by 1,400 yuan, resulting in a value increase rate of 78%. Among them, the butyl acetate and ethyl acetate produced fill a gap in the autonomous region, while the use of non-grain raw materials such as cassava to produce propyl and butyl acetates via petrochemical processes fills a gap on a global scale, giving them strong market competitiveness. ”
Both cassava starch and corn starch are types of starch; why can their prices differ so much? In recent years, cassava has always been one of the main raw materials for alcohol production; however, the alcohol produced is blended with other substances to make liquor: lol.
Cassava alcohol is more promising than corn alcohol
