What is an appropriate empty-tower gas velocity for a silica gel dryer?

Use a silica gel desiccator to remove moisture from Freon gas; the operating pressure is around 18 kilograms. What is an appropriate value for the gas velocity in the empty tower? What is the maximum diameter of silicone dryers that can be used nowadays? A too large diameter always makes me feel uneasy, as I’m worried that uneven gas distribution and short circuits could result in poor drying performance.
