I have recently developed an interest in defoamers and would like to conduct some research. I have a few questions, and I hope professionals in this field can help answer them. Thank you. 1. What are the main antifoam products available in the domestic market? What are the main application industries? How’s the market? 2. Which are the main domestic manufacturers? Which factories are the best and perform the best? 3. Which defoamers do you use? How effective is it? What are the problems? 4. What antifoams do you produce, and what are the problems in your production process? 5. How are some new types of defoamers performing in the domestic market? What are the new types of defoamers available? 6. What are the current focus areas in the research and application of defoamers? There are many questions; I’m just starting out, and I hope everyone will be kind enough to offer their guidance. Thank you.
There are indeed quite a few problems. I’ve used sec-octanol, tributyl phosphate, and a silicone antifoam agent, mainly in dye synthesis, especially to deal with the foaming that occurs during coupling reactions. All of them worked well; however, sec-octanol has an unpleasant odor, tributyl phosphate has a pleasant smell, while silicone agents basically have no odor at all.
I have produced defoamers for papermaking, which are mainly used to eliminate foam in the pulp and during the coating preparation process, and they work quite well.
I’m familiar with quite a number of silicone defoamers that are quite well-known: Nanjing Sixin, Hangzhou Transfar, Tianjin Emico, Jinhu Saioxin Yue, etc. These are generally used in industries such as papermaking and coatings. Currently, there is significant competitive pressure in China, as exports have decreased; many companies have turned to the domestic market in an attempt to capture more market share. Generally, manufacturers pay close attention to the defoaming speed and foam suppression capabilities of defoamers.
I also use silicon-based defoamers quite a lot in the printing and dyeing industry; of course, they are also used in the papermaking industry
