Currently, large catalytic cracking units all share one lubricating oil system; generally, strict requirements are imposed on the inlet temperature, while no specific requirements seem to exist for the return oil temperature. If there are regulations, how are they specified? Are there any relevant standards?
There doesn’t seem to be a specific requirement for the temperature of the return oil; however, the return oil temperature can be used to assess the condition of oil cooling.
It seems to be no more than 68 degrees; this is data from the early 1990s. Back then, there were no sensors on domestic tiles, so one could only determine the temperature of the tiles by checking the temperature of the returning oil.
Generally, the temperature of the bearing shells is monitored; it is specified that this temperature must not exceed a certain limit. There is also a thermometer at the site to measure the temperature of the return oil, and if it seems too high, the amount of oil flowing in can be increased
It seems there are no specific regulations; we just need to determine the appropriate temperature for the oil entering the bearing shells. This temperature varies depending on the temperature and pressure of the incoming oil. If the temperature of the returning oil is high and it’s not due to those two factors, then there might be a problem with the shaft or the bearing shells
