Introduction to ABB’s DCS

Which of you who work in the marine industry has experience with ABB’s DCS systems? I have a project coming up where the competitor uses ABB’s DCS system. I would appreciate it if those who know something about ABB’s DCS systems could provide a brief overview, including what systems are available and the characteristics of each one. Thank you.
ABB’s DCS is now called DCS800XA, and it includes controllers as well as upper-level software.
ABB’s mainstream DCS products: 800xA, 800F, infi90, Advant
The current unified banner is Industrial IT. The mainstream options are the AC800M/800XA. There are also the AC800F/Freelance, which are very useful for smaller and medium-sized systems. For power plant control systems, the well-known options are Info90/PGP. The Advant series has basically been discontinued, including models such as Advant Controller 110, 160, 410, 450, and 460. There is still one system that can barely be considered a DCS – it’s the AC800PEC/800XA, which is promoted by the Metal Processing Department. However, this department really refuses to call the AC800PEC a DCS; calling it that would diminish its value! Currently, all hardware systems – the entire AC800 series, Info90, as well as the older Advant Controllers – can have their upper-level monitoring platforms unified under 800XA. In the future, there will be fewer and fewer hardware platforms, with a trend toward integration, while software platforms will also tend to converge and integrate as well. However, all of this cannot be achieved in a day.
