“\"Flaring\" occurs as a result of the mixing of coke oven gas and air in the brick gas channels, leading to ignition and backfire. Generally, the “explosion” occurs about 10–20 seconds after the exchange. Most occur in brick gas ducts where the upward airflow changes to a downward airflow. Common causes include: (1) The switching valve is not opened or closed properly; the valve does not rotate enough, or it has rotated 90 degrees but still isn’t fully closed, resulting in air leakage and air entering the carbon removal port. (2) The connection between the plug core and the housing is poor; corrosion or inadequate lubrication may occur, resulting in air leakage even when it is fully closed. (3) Excessive tightening of the safety exchange plug set screw causes air leakage. (4) Air leakage from the horizontal and vertical pipes in the basement. (5) Brick gas duct leakage. (6) Violation of the pressure system caused the graphite protective layer in the carbonization chamber to burn off, resulting in leakage of raw gas. (7) When replacing the orifice plate, the flange screws were not loosened after closing the inlet and outlet valves for 15–20 seconds, which allowed air to be drawn in and caused a \"blowout\".
