This post was last edited by Desert Fish on 2022-3-2 22:30. Question: What is the core technology of current ethylene cracking furnaces? Which are the main technologies at home and abroad? What are their main technical features? Thank you for your advice. Wishing you good health and success in your work
The most crucial technology is the ethylene cracking process. Calculations related to this process include the degree of cracking, the yield of ethylene, and so on. Due to the complexity of the reaction and the large number of by-products, it is very difficult to establish models for simulation purposes. One of the better simulation tools available is Technip’s Spyro software, although it is quite expensive. Of course, each patent holder has its own calculation method, but they all remain opaque boxes, making it difficult to understand them in China. The main patent holders include SW Company’s pyrolysis furnaces ; Linde’s pyrolyzer ; KBR’s millisecond pyrolyzer ; Lummus’ cracking furnace ; KTI’s cracking furnace ; There is also the Northern Furnace of S’E’I of Sinopec. The main technical features are difficult to summarize; SW, Linde, Lummus, and others all use dual radiation chambers ; KBR is a single-ray chamber, millisecond furnace. The differences in other features are not significant.
Give me your email address, panj@sinopecten.com, and I’ll send you some materials. Don’t forget to give extra points!
Equipment is also a crucial element; key components still need to be imported, such as waste boilers and furnace tubes. It would be great if these could be made entirely in China. **More investment should be put into the manufacturing sector
Now, the waste heat boilers and furnace tubes are 100% domestically produced; linear quenchers can also be made in China – it’s just that the owners don’t trust them; Actually, there’s nothing difficult about the equipment these days; it’s just that the domestic production rate for the control and software components is relatively low
The control and software aspects are also well-developed, but it’s difficult to promote them due to trust issues; I hope more professionals will join the R&D team.
China’s manufacturing technology is quite good nowadays and is fully capable of replacing imports
The waste heat boilers used in our factory are from Alstom; they are manufactured in Germany and then shipped here by sea. It is said that a single unit costs several million, and it’s enough money that an operator wouldn’t be able to earn in an entire lifetime, eh
For pyrolysis furnaces, many people focus only on the core hardware components: furnace tubes, waste boilers, ultra-high pressure steam drums, large pyrolysis gas valves, pyrolysis gas delivery pipelines, burners, etc; Most patent holders seem to focus on the arrangement of the furnace tubes, and this is also an important factor that distinguishes their technologies from one another. But in my opinion, aside from the aforementioned hardware, the more critical hidden technology behind the pyrolysis furnace is: 1. the balance system of the furnace tubes ; 2 Heat distribution/allocation in the furnace chamber ; 3 Control system of the pyrolyzer ; 4 Heat expansion treatment techniques for furnace tubes, pyrolysis gas transfer pipelines, etc ;

I agree that the process represents the challenge. Related post: Which equipment in ethylene plants still needs to be imported? http://bbs.hcbbs.com/viewthread.php?tid=486487&highlight=
