Recently, I worked on a heat exchange station. The client requested that the circulation water pumps be equipped with variable frequency drives. After careful consideration, although the initial investment is slightly higher, the energy savings are significant, making it worth promoting
Heat exchangers need to have their scale removed over time; otherwise, it affects the quality of heat exchange and leads to energy waste! We use water guns for this purpose during our annual major maintenance sessions.
The original poster’s scope is quite broad; I hope we can discuss specific issues. Currently, intelligent heat exchange stations are widely used, and it’s common for both the circulation pumps and make-up water pumps to be equipped with variable frequency drives. With variable frequency drives for the make-up water pumps, there is no need for pressure control equipment.

Someone mentioned energy savings through recirculating water systems. In many cases, due to reasons such as system expansion, the pumps used in these systems operate at efficiency levels that are low under actual conditions. By selecting pumps suitable for the actual head and flow rates, significant energy savings can be achieved.
Over time, oil contamination builds up in the circulating oil heat exchanger, which affects the quality of heat exchange and leads to energy waste. The heat exchanger is alkali washed during the annual overhaul.
I just saw a report a few days ago. . There is significant room for improvement in insulation and energy efficiency in China. The article says that we waste over XXXX units of energy due to insufficient insulation. . Take your time. When resources run out, everyone will pay attention. Otherwise it’s pointless!
I was involved in a case where an ammonium chloride solution in a reactor crystallized at -15 degrees Celsius; a low-temperature refrigeration unit was used to supply chilled water for cooling and crystallization. The waste heat generated during refrigeration was then utilized to reheat the ammonium chloride, thereby achieving energy savings through the use of this waste heat
At present, instant electric water heaters are widely available on the market. If the heat exchange method could be changed to a heat pump system (like that in heat pump air conditioners), energy consumption could be reduced by more than half at least. Heat pump water heaters are already available abroad, but they are quite expensive.
Now, many companies are adopting variable-frequency technology to save energy, without realizing that installing such devices increases power pollution and reduces the efficiency of energy use across the entire power grid.
