These two indicators are closest to the smelting conditions in blast furnaces, and they provide a better assessment of coke quality than traditional cold strength tests.
The post-reaction strength CSR represents the capacity of coke to resist crushing and wear when subjected to thermal stress and mechanical forces under the temperature and atmosphere conditions of its operating environment. Coke reactivity is the reaction of coke with carbon dioxide. The ability to undergo chemical reactions with oxygen and water vapor, etc.; the reactivity of coke refers to its reaction with carbon dioxide. The ability to undergo chemical reactions with oxygen, water vapor, etc.; Chinese standard GB/T4000-1996 specifies the test methods for coke reactivity and strength after reaction.
A certain mass of coke sample is weighed and placed in a reactor, where it reacts with carbon dioxide at 1100°C ± 5°C for 2 hours; the reactivity of the coke is then expressed as a percentage of the mass loss of the coke (CRI%). For the coke after reaction, the mass percentage of coke particles larger than 10 mm, as determined by the Type I drum test, represents the strength of the coke after reaction (CSR%).
