Our factory uses self-produced continuously cast ordinary brass bars (H62; these bars are cooled in air after being cast, and no further treatment is applied beyond removing the oxide layer from their surface). These bars are cut into ingots with a diameter of 25 mm and a length of 20 mm, which are then heated before being shaped into copper tubes (with an inner diameter of 3.5 mm and an outer diameter of 8 mm). After filling, the tubes are cooled in air. My questions are: 1) What is the appropriate heating temperature and duration before hot stamping? 2) If we want the copper tubes to have good resistance to repeated bending (i.e., they should not crack when bent at right angles repeatedly), is it sufficient to simply cool them in air after hot stamping, or are other heat treatment processes required? There are generally only two types of brass annealing. One is stress-relief annealing at temperatures between 200 and 350 degrees; this does not change the mechanical properties of the brass. The other type is recrystallization annealing at temperatures above 550 degrees, which results in excellent plasticity
