Is perchloroethylene paint suitable as an anti-corrosion coating for steel components such as outdoor railings and ladders in coastal areas? Please help me analyze this. The basis for my choice is page 357 of the national standard 05J909; coastal areas are affected by marine atmosphere, but the impact of industrial atmosphere is not significant. However, it has been found that this type of paint does not have very good adhesion, but it does offer good corrosion resistance. The standard GB50046-2008 does not provide any relevant recommendations regarding its use.
Detailed product description of perchloroethylene anti-corrosion paint: It is composed of perchloroethylene resin, acrylic resin, alkyd resin, plasticizers, pigments, additives, solvents, etc. The main features are fast drying of the paint film, a smooth and shiny finish, as well as good weather resistance and chemical resistance. Its main applications are in the painting of various vehicles, machine tools, electrical equipment, agricultural machinery, anti-corrosion equipment, etc. Packaging specification: 20 kilograms per barrel. Technical specifications:
Paint film color and appearance: Color difference range; smooth surface. Viscosity (in a 4° cup), s: 25–80. Gloss (at 60°), %: Black ≥85; other colors ≥75. Hardness (using a double-pendulum tester): ≥0.4. Impact resistance, Kg·cm: 50. Flexibility, mm: ≤2. Adhesion (using the scratch test), grade: ≤2. Content of non-volatile substances, %: Red, blue, black ≥26; other colors ≥31. Optimal temperature and humidity for application: 15–35°C, 45–80%. Recommended dry film thickness: 30–40 μm.
Moisture inhibitor: When humidity is above 70%, a vinyl chloride paint moisture inhibitor should be used.
