Our company plans to build new workshops for raw material distillation and alkane fermentation. Someone has recommended using ABB’s AC800 controllers and control systems; since we have only used Centum CS in the past, we are not very familiar with ABB’s products. I would appreciate it if colleagues could share their insights and offer some suggestions.
To be honest, nothing is as user-friendly as Centem CS. ABB seems to do a decent job in terms of electrical components, while its DCS system is just average
ABB’s DCS systems are quite rigid. The security of Unix-based systems used to be fairly good. The AC800 system is probably based on Windows.
The ABB AC800F is indeed based on the Windows platform. It has a fully Chinese interface, making it easy to operate. The number of points ranges from dozens to thousands, and its structure is flexible. Online monitoring as well as switching between operations are straightforward.
I remember seeing statistics from somewhere stating that the main application area of ABB is in the cement industry, and it’s not very strong in the chemical industry.
The AC800 is supposed to be for Windows, right? Yes, the documentation provided by ABB states that it supports the Windows operating system. Moreover, its core has been fully localized in Chinese, making programming and configuration easier to use.
I am currently using the ABB AC800F in the cement industry; it seems easy to use, and it has a Chinese interface. It’s quite flexible, and it’s easy to expand or do other modifications
We’re still using it in our phosphorus chemicals industry, and it seems to work well
In the TDI industry, AC800F is also used; it’s quite good and easy to operate. Actually, as long as there are industry performance figures, it’s more or less the same
In our phosphate fertilizer industry, ABB’s DCS systems are widely used, and they offer a good cost-performance ratio.
It works well; we have 6 sets of the ABB AC800F system in use at our factory, and it is applied in both refining and chemical processing units. There are fully localized versions available since V8.1, and the configuration is very convenient. Personally, I find it useful; its functions are sufficient, it’s easy to maintain, the technology is mature, and there are relatively few system failures.
