Our method used in 2007: 1. Manual grinding, two coats of epoxy zinc-rich primer, two coats of intermediate coat, and one coat of topcoat; the result was not satisfactory； Method used in 2008: 1. Manual polishing, 2 coats of fluorocarbon primer and 2 coats of topcoat; the result was not satisfactory. . . . . . .
It needs to be repainted once a year; the corrosion is indeed severe. It is estimated that painting after sandblasting would be better. PS: The poster should describe the corrosive environment more clearly.
If the poster wants to solve the problem, they should phrase their question more professionally: 1. What is the extent of the corrosion? 2 What are the main corrosive agents? Hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, carbon dioxide, and so on – different media require different anti-corrosion materials and techniques. 3 What were the original anti-corrosion systems and construction methods like? Nothing is clear, and no one can give you the right solution.
What was said upstairs is correct – without identifying the root cause, it’s difficult to address corrosion issues, and no matter how thoroughly something is polished, it’s still of no use.
In some of our process sections, corrosion is prevented by adding a retardant that forms a passivation film on the pipes, thereby protecting them from corrosion caused by acidic substances in the process streams
Anticorrosion measures need to be targeted; be more specific
By identifying the causes of corrosion, selecting appropriate anti-corrosion materials, and ensuring proper construction and maintenance, many problems can be completely resolved. However, in many chemical plants these days, a one-size-fits-all solution is often used across the entire facility; coupled with the methods employed by some construction teams during work, as well as the time constraints imposed by the factory itself, the coatings do not receive adequate maintenance； This has led to a situation in which corrosion in chemical plants is very difficult to address.
What is the medium used? What is the temperature? Is it corrosion caused by the atmospheric environment or by excessive current flow?
Before using the equipment, it is possible to try passing fluorine gas through the pipelines and the equipment to form a fluorine-passivated film, which works very well for dealing with certain difficult cases of corrosion
Fluorocarbon paint is one of the coatings with the best corrosion resistance available today. If it doesn’t work, then unless there is an issue with the quality of the fluorocarbon paint itself, the problem may lie in the quality of the application process – for example, inadequate rust removal before applying the paint, uneven coating, pores or bubbles in the paint film, or wear and damage to the paint film, which results in actual lack of protection.
It’s atmospheric corrosion of the pipeline, right? ! Corrosion prevention: First and foremost, surface treatment is crucial; manual polishing is not sufficient, especially in chemical plants and petrochemical plants. The standard practice is sandblasting, to achieve a certain level of cleanliness and roughness on the surface. Second, it is very important to choose the right coating; the type of coating to be used should be selected based on the specific corrosion factors present in the surrounding atmospheric environment. If there is often a high level of acetic acid vapor in your area, it is recommended to use special anti-corrosion coatings rather than ordinary ones; otherwise, you’ll have a lot of work to do.
