This post was last edited by Huang Xinhui on 2009-12-10 at 21:28. Summary of the trip to Kunming for the Annual Conference on Ammonia Synthesis. As planned, I attended the 19th National Annual Conference on Large-Scale Ammonia Synthesis Plants held in Kunming from November 14 to November 25, 2009. Additionally, on November 20, a study visit was conducted to the ammonia synthesis plants of Lutianhua and Yuntianhua; the summary is as follows: I. Participation in the Ammonia Synthesis Annual Conference From November 14 to November 19, I attended the Ammonia Synthesis Annual Conference, where I first listened to technical presentations by various specialized groups, followed by group discussions and summaries. By attending this annual conference on synthetic ammonia, I gained an overview of synthetic ammonia plants and synthetic ammonia production across the country. 1. Advances in domestic ammonia synthesis technology (1) Overall technical level: The technical level of large-scale ammonia synthesis plants in China, both in terms of integrated technologies and individual technologies, has consistently kept pace with the development of global ammonia synthesis process technologies. A large number of advanced domestic and international technologies have been employed in energy conservation, increased production, and the adjustment of raw material composition. These technologies have not only helped to reduce costs, enhance competitiveness, and improve the technological level of the processing equipment as well as its control systems, but they have also made energy consumption and environmental conditions more in line with the requirements of sustainable development. In the context of structural adjustment for oil-based facilities, clean coal gasification technology was introduced into ammonia synthesis production, further enhancing the level of feed diversification. The process technology and equipment level of small and medium-sized ammonia synthesis plants have been improved through technological upgrades and structural adjustments. (2) Keep track of advanced technologies to achieve energy savings and reduced consumption, as well as to improve operational efficiency. Application of new technologies in large-scale ammonia synthesis plants: flue gas waste heat recovery technology, heat exchange conversion process technology, new types of steam conversion catalysts, installation of pre-conversion systems, new types of burners, gas turbine + combined heat and power cycle processes, catalysts with low water-carbon ratios and high activity + axial-radial converter furnaces, low-energy carbon removal technologies + new types of efficient fillers, new internal components for synthesis towers + highly active catalysts, installation of molecular sieve dryers in the synthesis circuit, deep cryogenic separation or membrane separation, new types of efficient and energy-saving rotors, advanced anti-surge control and speed regulation systems, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technologies for large-scale units, recovery of process waste heat, clean coal gasification technologies and equipment. Technical improvements for medium-scale ammonia synthesis plants: heat exchange converter furnace technology, which reduces the natural gas consumption per ton of ammonia to 750–800 Nm3; pressurized gasification of crushed or pulverized coal to diversify raw material sources; atmospheric pressure circulating fluidized bed batch gasification technology and oxygen-enriched continuous gasification technology; Endler furnace powder coal gasification and ash fusion powder coal gasification technologies to enable local sourcing of raw materials. Adoption of new carbon removal processes such as NHD, MDEA, and double-tower regeneration to reduce energy consumption in carbon removal systems; axial-radial tower internal components and low-temperature, highly active catalysts to increase capacity and the net yield of ammonia. Hydrogen recovery using membrane separation or pressure swing adsorption technologies to reduce the energy consumption of the plants. 2. Development trends in the ammonia synthesis industry: The ammonia synthesis industry is the foundation of the fertilizer industry, and its development must be coordinated with agriculture, resources, and the environment. In light of the industry’s existing problems and **policy restrictions, the focus of China’s ammonia synthesis industry remains on promoting structural adjustments and developing a resource-efficient and environmentally friendly industry. This is reflected in: improving process efficiency, reducing energy consumption and production costs, enhancing the reliability of facilities and their operational lifespan, and minimizing environmental pollution ; Reduce investment costs, enhance competitiveness, and achieve sustainable development. 3. Key issues: A large number of enterprises with small scales, low industry concentration, which directly affects the use of advanced technologies ; Energy consumption remains high, prices are high, production costs are high, and competitiveness is low ; There is a gap between environmental protection efforts and international advanced standards.
A few days ago I received two volumes of the proceedings from the 19th annual conference, in two parts; however, I don’t have the electronic version yet
I hope you can scan it into an electronic version and upload it to this area for everyone to study and discuss! 8# INI99
According to official IFA figures, over the next 4 years, nitrogen fertilizer supply will increase from 133.5 Mt in 2009 to 154.7 Mt in 2013, representing an increase of 16%; As for demand, it increased by 12%, from 126.9 Mt (2009) to 141.7 Mt (2013). This figure does not include the projects in the feasibility study stage in the Middle East, Russia, and China at all; it is a conservative estimate. If the prediction is correct, the next adjustment cycle will surely arrive. It’s a pity that there was very little discussion on this aspect at this annual meeting.
