Many pipes in the methanol washing process have a slope – why is that? Exhaust? There are also some cold pumps that are equipped with exhaust pipelines; so what is the gas inside these pumps?
There is a slope; in the methanol washing pipelines, flow is mostly two-phase (gas and liquid). Regarding pump venting, many of these vents are used during startup
The main purpose of designing the slope is to prevent water accumulation in the pipes
The design slope is intended to prevent vibrations in the pipes caused by fluid accumulation, as there is often gas-liquid two-phase flow in the methanol washing pipelines! The pump’s exhaust is used for venting when filling the tank with liquid before starting the pump!
Pipes have a slope, which is fundamentally different from the exhaust system of a cold pump; the slope in pipes serves to prevent liquid from accumulating, while the pump’s exhaust pipeline is used to release gas and prevent air lockages in the pump!
