Of course, catalytic reforming is a good option for work, but there’s plenty of benzene and toluene there.
It’s best to do both if you want to do better.
1. The petrochemical industry is a high-risk sector; as long as safety comes first at all times, this principle applies regardless of the specific facility; 2. Catalytic cracking and reforming are both key units in oil refining. It is worthwhile to start by working on these units in shift-based outdoor operations, then move on to operating them from a control room, and strive to become a shift supervisor; once that is achieved, it will be easier to take on technical management roles. Especially when it comes to equipment management, it becomes simpler to identify the source of equipment failures, as one can rule out potential faults based on the process parameters.
From the on-site operations, it is cleaner during reformation, but there are many toxic substances. In terms of importance, reforming will be no less significant than catalysis in the future, with continuous reforming covering almost all catalytic technologies.
The reformation technologies seem to be more comprehensive, including moving beds, catalyst regeneration, and product distillation – all of which are present in both units. However, reformation involves an additional step of aromatic extraction, which is not present in catalytic processes. However, benzene is a highly toxic substance that can easily lead to weakened hematopoietic and immune functions. . . . It seems to have a very negative impact on women. . . .
It depends on your attitude. If you just want it to be easy, then of course it’s better to reorganize things. But if you want to learn something and switch to a better company, I recommend going into cracking – preferably hydrocracking – because the requirements for oil products are very strict these days. I work in hydrorefining.

In terms of daily workload and level of risk, it’s the same whether to work in catalytic cracking or catalytic reforming. In the long run, catalytic reforming is a good choice – it involves the processing of light oils, the plants used are clean, it is a key sector in the chemical industry, and there is great potential for development.
