How is the loss calculated in general formulas? Is the loss due to the moisture in the raw materials?
The loss depends on one’s manufacturing process; ours is around 3%. However, a portion of it can be reused in the dust removal system, so it isn’t considered part of the water loss. The overall loss is approximately 0.5%. It is quite necessary to take water loss into account when formulating recipes–due to the limitations of the drum granulation technique.
For our compound fertilizers, the moisture loss according to the formula is only around 3%–5%. As for the material loss in the dryers, coolers, sieves, and dust removal units, it is dealt with by regularly removing the material from these devices and then adding it back to the raw materials used in the new formulas for production. Therefore, our material loss is relatively low. Every day, we compare the quantity of finished products produced with the amount of raw materials used (there are daily reports), and we have accumulated experience over several years.
The release of dry exhaust gases represents the greatest loss; although washing is carried out, it generally isn’t thorough enough. The nutrient content in the washing solution is over 20%, and such a dilute solution cannot be reused as a slurry
Our loss for dichloro is 6%, and for urea-based it’s 3%, including moisture.
