Our device has two outlets: one is for the flare, which is generally not used; the other is for use in the chimney that handles flue gas, and this is the one that is used on a regular basis. I believe the reason might be that the exhaust gas contains unreacted oxygen, and sending it to the flare would be unsafe. I’d appreciate any insights you might have

This is an excellent question. Nowadays, factories generally use the two methods mentioned by the original poster, and some also use the method described in point 3 for converting it into fuel gas. Let me share my thoughts on this issue: First, let’s analyze the composition of the exhaust gas after gasoline desulfurization and dewaxing – it mainly consists of air with a small amount of oxygen that has participated in the reaction; depending on the operating temperature, it may also contain trace amounts of hydrocarbon vapors. As for discharging this exhaust gas into a flare, since it is essentially air, could it cause an explosion when mixed with other flammable gases in the venting pipeline? If it is discharged through a chimney, the exhaust gas contains hydrocarbons, and given the high temperature in the chimney, isn’t there a risk of accidents? Using it as fuel gas depends on the specific method of utilization; specialized burners are commonly used, and attention must also be paid to issues such as pipeline material and backflow. Currently, there are also some attempts to deal with this type of exhaust gas, including those generated during the alkali regeneration process in liquefied gas desulfurization and dewaxing. A company in Xi’an uses membrane separation to separate the hydrocarbons from the exhaust gas for reuse, while discarding the remaining portion; the Fushun Research Institute seems to have another method involving multi-stage cooling for separation. I don’t know very much about these methods in detail – is there anyone who is more familiar with them and can provide more information?

Direct venting is possible, resulting in the release of foul-smelling gases that pollute the environment. I saw information on diesel absorption; I just wonder what the effectiveness is like?

The exhaust gas from our company’s 400,000-ton gasoline desulfurization unit enters the chimney of the catalytic unit; sometimes, depending on the type of flame arrester used, it can be vented directly, as the combustible gases in the exhaust gas are usually in low concentrations.
Check where your exhaust gases are located; if they are near sulfur, send them to the sulfur incinerator. If they are near units such as atmospheric and vacuum distillation or coking plants, send them to their heating furnaces for combustion. It can also go to the catalytic regenerator. Not going to the torch.
