At present, we use double-flange level gauges for measurement, and the results are good; however, monitoring also needs to take into account the frost level.
Our factory uses double-flange magnetic level gauges, and there are no problems with them
The radar remote level gauge from Xi’an Dinghua that we use is quite good; however, there is currently a technical limitation (according to the manufacturer) – it becomes inaccurate when the liquid level in the tank is between 200–300 mm
It is better to use contactless methods, such as ultrasound, radar, or optical level sensors.
A magnetic flap level gauge will do, but it’s important to note that it is not 100% reliable; for example, with liquid chlorine, which is quite dirty, it’s easy for the float to get stuck, resulting in false level readings. The most reliable method is still to use one’s hands to feel and determine the level of the liquid.
Liquid chlorine tank level gauge: Due to the special properties of liquid chlorine, liquid chlorine tanks are classified as category III pressure vessels. To ensure safety, the design can be carried out by referring to the methods used for monitoring the water level in a boiler’s drum, that is, by employing various detection methods based on different principles for measuring the liquid level. Taking into account the physical and chemical properties of liquid chlorine, level measurement can be carried out using three types of instruments based on different principles: double-flange differential pressure transmitters, magnetic flap level gauges (with fluorescence), and external-type level gauges. Among them, the external-type level gauges can calibrate themselves every 15 minutes, allowing the DCS system to automatically and periodically verify the accuracy of these instruments, thereby further enhancing safety. The liquid level alarm uses a comprehensive comparison of multiple liquid level values to trigger alerts for upper limit, lower limit, and deviation, among others.
We replaced the level gauge with a DN25 steel pipe installed on one side of the storage tank, making judgments based on the condition of the steel pipe. There have been some issues with the external-type level gauge since it was installed, preventing it from being used
