There should be no such regulations. I think gate valves can be used as valves for emptying and purging.

What you are talking about is not in the main text of HG20599, but in the appendix of HG20599, the vacuum pump basic unit mode. In fact, the reason why you should choose a ball valve is very simple. The main problem is sealing. Compared with stop valves and gate valves, the sealing performance of ball valves is better. Ball valves can easily reach level 6, while stop valves and gate valves cannot reach level 6 unless they have soft seals.
