Is there a formula for calculating the coal consumption of a boiler?
It seems that there is no information on coal consumption, which is essentially the thermal load of the boiler. This depends mainly on the temperature you want to achieve for the material to be heated; the higher the desired temperature, the more coal will be required. After all, the highest thermal efficiency currently available is around 90%...
Let’s convert it to standard coal, so it will have some reference value!
Generally, 1 ton of coal produces 10 tons of steam at 10 Mpa and 540°C – is that correct?

The amount of heat that must be absorbed to raise water from 20°C to steam at 300°C and 2.5 MPa can be found; the calorific value of standard coal is known, as is the thermal efficiency of the boiler. Using these values, it is possible to calculate the amount of coal required per ton of steam produced by the boiler. I’m giving you an example! It should generally be around 8 tons!

Coal consumption = Heat absorbed by the boiler / (Lower heating value of coal * Boiler efficiency). Heat absorbed by the boiler: 1. For hot water boilers, it is generally the rated heat load. 2. For steam boilers, it is tonnage * (Heat value corresponding to the steam temperature – Enthalpy of feedwater); this information can be found in standard boiler textbooks. It is recommended to refer to \"Methods for Thermal Calculation of Industrial Boilers\", page 38, formulas 4-29, 4-30, and 4-31.
