The company is preparing to put a pilot plant for powder coal gasification into operation. Could experts please explain the advantages and disadvantages of powder coal gasification compared to water-coal slurry gasification?
The gasification efficiency of pulverized coal is relatively higher than that of coal water slurry, with a higher concentration of useful components in the gas; meanwhile, coal water slurry is simpler to operate and more mature.

Dry gasification offers high efficiency and high concentrations of useful gases, while coal water slurry is simple to operate and well-established. The main issue is the severe lack of industrial experience in dry gasification technology, high investment costs for such facilities, and difficulties in adapting imported technologies domestically; as a result, domestic facilities are unable to complete the processes successfully!
Considering the risks of gasification with dry coal powder as well, it is still in the demonstration stage.
At present, the industrialization of powder coal gasification technology does not yet have the maturity of water-coal slurry!
I think we also need to consider the composition of the raw coal; a purely technical comparison has limited significance.
Won’t the dry powder feeding cause congestion? I think that’s the real problem
Which company does the poster work for, and are they going to use a pilot plant for pulverized coal gasification? Is it one’s own technology, and what are the differences from other patents?
