What are the detailed installation steps and methods for Bentley vibration and displacement probes?
Aren’t these items all supplied as complete sets of equipment? Aren’t they all installed by the equipment manufacturers? Ours are delivered already installed; they have never been installed before.
It can be installed after testing: a bracket is made, the probe is attached to it to measure the relationship between rotation and distance, and then it is installed on-site. Generally, the gap has a certain range; as long as it remains within that range, it has no impact on the measurements. For your reference.
This device may behave differently on various equipment. I have installed it on a screw compressor, also from Detroit; first, tighten all the sensors all the way down (don’t use too much force or you might damage the sensors), and then turn them back 3 turns
First, fix the probe to the bracket, then adjust the gap voltage. Use a multimeter to check or observe whether the corresponding meter reads zero; if not, adjust the probe until it reads zero, and finally secure the probe in place with a nut.
As for how to deal with this issue, if it’s a vibration problem, use a multimeter to measure the output voltage signal of the preamplifier; then start inserting the probe further into the machine. The voltage is 26V at first, and as the probe is inserted deeper, the voltage decreases. When it reaches 10V, stop inserting it any further. This method works for eddy current sensors with a sensitivity of 7.874V/mm; these sensors are typically used in conjunction with models 3300 and 3500. Displacement is rather troublesome; you need to know the amount of shaft play, and then use the middle value as the mechanical zero point. Of course, you have to move the shaft to the non-working position and calculate the voltage value at that midpoint, then make the adjustments! There should be no problem, I guess!
For the speed probe, turn it all the way in and then back 3 turns
Reply to 1# libo_1219: Generally, it is about adjusting the voltage of the gap between the probe and the shaft; setting it to 10 volts should suffice
For the vibration probe: 1. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the PREAMP’s COM.VT terminal; it is usually between 9 and 10 V. Be careful during installation and avoid damaging the extension cable; The displacement probe should be selected based on the amount of play. Have the fitter move the shaft to the midpoint; with the probe in place, the voltage should be 10V and the reading on the secondary meter should be 0. Then, the fitter should move the shaft to each of the two end positions, and the values shown on the secondary meter should be added together and compared with the amount of play.
