Manual operation is good; the pressure difference before and after the mixing valve usually does not change much, and even if there are slight changes, their impact on operation is minimal.
If two or more electrodialysis tanks are operated in parallel, manual control is recommended, as the crude oil flow rate remains stable and the pressure difference changes little, allowing for effective control through manual means. In automatic mode, pressure differential fluctuations become more frequent, which has a significant impact on the pressure control in electrodialysis as well as on the flow rate of each crude oil stream. The single-channel electrodialysis tank has never been operated before, so it seems that automatic control should have little impact.

Here, manual control is used to primarily regulate the current of the electrodeionization system, in order to prevent the electrodes from breaking down.
