Personal opinion: It should be feasible. Looking forward to answers from experts.
Coal tar is highly corrosive, so the bottom and inner walls of the tank must be treated to prevent corrosion.
It is not feasible. Generally, coal tar requires heating in cement tanks, which is prone to causing expansion cracks.
I’m not entirely sure, but I’ve seen in several companies that coal tar is stored in cement tanks, and at the time I didn’t think there was anything wrong with that
There are no specific standards either; much of it relies on experience. In places like Zibo, the use of cement tanks is no longer allowed, mainly due to leakage issues. Coal tar contains phenolic substances, and environmental protection is a major concern; phenolic substances pose a serious threat to the soil.
It should be possible as long as proper anti-corrosion, waterproofing, and insulation measures are taken. It saves space and money – why not do it?
Could someone upstairs please explain how to prevent corrosion of the inner wall when using steel storage tanks?
