According to the association, among the Shell gasification units introduced in China, 12 such units belonging to 11 companies including Hubei Shuanghuan, Sinopec, and Liuzhou Chemical have been put into trial operation or full operation, but they have all encountered various problems such as unstable performance. Four companies, including Tianjin Alkali Plant of Tianjin Bohai Chemical Group and Datang International, also plan to start operations between August and October this year ； Four companies, including Hebi Coal and Electricity Responsibility Co., Ltd. and Datong Coal Mine Group, are carrying out the engineering design, with commissioning expected in 2011. There won’t be any large-scale Shell furnaces launched in the near future; Shell furnaces are having a hard time in China at the moment. If any do exist, they are likely to be small-scale experimental furnaces, possibly with an improved quenching process, and certainly not for ammonia synthesis

No company seems to be in urgent need of shell’s gasification workers these days; the utilization rate is so low, and there have been several documents issued calling for measures to control this situation. It’s better to look for other job opportunities
