Aluminum plates are electroplated with NI-P (electroless nickel), followed by spraying a ternary alloy of Co, Cr, and Ta (or Pt). Finally, a protective coating is applied. The amount of metal in the coating is already very small, usually only a few micrometers thick; there are also so many different metals involved. If the quantity isn’t large enough, I don’t think there’s much value in extracting it
