How should the liquid coming out of the sulfur melting tank be handled?
During the sulfur melting process, sulfur emerges from the jacket valve at the bottom; what should be done with the liquid phase that comes out from the top of the tank? Should it return to the system directly, or after processing? Or just discharge it directly?
The clear liquid from the soda ash desulfurization and sulfur melting reactors can be cooled and then directly reused in the system. In coking plants, where ammonia is used for desulfurization, the addition of dilute ammonia as a source of alkali can cause an increase in the volume of liquid in the system, which necessitates the discharge of some of that liquid. If the system generates a large amount of by-products salts (especially sodium/cyanide ammonium resulting from the desulfurization of coke oven gas, and the reaction is irreversible), and if there is a large volume of liquid in the system, it may be advisable to remove these salts; coking plants typically spray part of the liquid that needs to be discharged each day onto the coal storage area.
It is best to use a centrifuge for drying, which can avoid the generation of waste liquid.
For the residue coming out of the sulfur-containing reactor’s residue outlet pipe, a residue recovery tank is provided; since the temperature of this residue is high, it is cooled using circulating water, and then pumped back into the system for reuse~
