In our company, for a 1-ton steel cylinder, we usually use about 2 50KG cart-type units. But I’m not sure if it can handle one ton of liquid chlorine; small leaks are no problem. . .
Promotional material from a certain company: 1. Vehicles for transporting liquid chlorine are equipped with 4 kg capacity tanks to prevent leaks from the cylinders during transportation. It is mainly used in liquid chlorine transport vehicles, research institutions, and medical wastewater treatment plants. 2. Six cylinders are to be installed as required at the liquid chlorine storage location and at the point of use for a 18 kg capacity. The main consideration is that it takes about 30 minutes for 6 bottles to be completely emptied through spraying, which provides more than 30 minutes of time for emergency response. By then, the pressure in the pipes or cylinders will have been reduced, making it much easier to seal the leaks. Moreover, most of the leaked chlorine can be neutralized by absorbent powder, thereby reducing harm to people and environmental damage.
I consulted someone who used to work in safety at our factory; it seems that the consideration is based on the leakage time – about 20 minutes of leakage – along with the spraying time of the extinguishers. We originally seemed to have been equipped with 6 units of 25kg each. The Measures for the Review of Conditions for Hazardous Chemicals Production Enterprises in Tianjin to Apply for a \"Work Safety License\" includes an appendix; chlorine gas extinguishers should be equipped with models of 4 kg (1 unit) and 18 kg (1 unit) (this is incorrect – push-type extinguishers are available in 15 kg, 25 kg, and 50 kg capacities; therefore, 25 kg capacity extinguishers should be used).
