However, in our facility, the return water temperature has recently been lower than the supply water temperature. After checking the instruments, it was confirmed that this is indeed the case. The reason is that after leaving the system, the circulating water has no heat load to dissipate, so it returns directly to the circulation system. Due to the low ground temperature, the return water transfers its heat to the soil through the circulation pipes, which results in a decrease in the temperature of the return water. I just can’t figure out this result and the reason behind it; I hope someone who understands can help me out. Thank you.
This phenomenon is strange; I have never encountered it. Could you be more specific, such as the layout of the equipment and pipelines?

Hehe, dear sea friends, this afternoon I had the instrument’s thermometer removed and checked it; it turned out that the instrument was giving incorrect readings. Since the temperature underground is low, it should be able to absorb the heat from the return water, as well as the heat from the feed water. After being sent out, the circulating water feed exchanges heat with the heat load and then returns to the circulating water system; therefore, the feed water temperature is always lower than the return water temperature.
