Our factory’s second coke oven stopped operating last year, and we are currently preparing to repair it so that it can resume operation. Does anyone have any relevant information or experience in this area? Let’s all talk and exchange ideas.
Since your coke ovens have stopped operating, it’s not a matter of routine maintenance anymore; it’s likely that they need to be demolished and rebuilt. The foundation and chimney may not need to be altered, but the road and wall bricks probably can no longer be used.
For coke ovens that have been taken out of service, repairs can be carried out in exactly the same way as for new ovens. The difference lies in the fact that when joining new and old brick surfaces, the variations in thermal expansion must be taken into account, and the rate of temperature increase must be strictly controlled during the heating process
The most important thing is to calculate and provide for the expansion joints properly. The masonry errors must meet the specified requirements, and the temperature must also be well controlled during furnace heating.
