Currently, the drying technologies used in China’s PVC industry include air flow dryers, air flow-fluidized dryers, air flow-inner heat fluidized dryers, air flow-cyclone dryers, and single-stage inner heat boiling dryers, among others. Please share which technologies your companies use, along with their advantages and disadvantages, as well as the performance metrics and consumption figures related to them.
What is being designed now is to use a centrifugal spray dryer.
We use air-flow cyclone drying, which features a simple process, few pieces of equipment required, low operating costs, easy control over the process, great operational flexibility and strong adaptability. It does not generate waste, requires no bed cleaning, and does not affect color spots. It is easy to change the resin type, and the steam consumption is 0.46 t/tPCV; the above figures are compared with internal-heating fluidized beds.
It is reported that in terms of energy consumption, the order from highest to lowest is: 1. Air current cyclone drying, 2. Fluidized bed drying, 3. Boiling bed drying
Air-flow cyclone drying is better; use the design from Xuzhou Institute, model 8! !
I would like to ask the experts: How should one choose a fluidized bed dryer with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year? Which manufacturer’s equipment is better?
Air flow tower + cyclone: stable operation, few product residues
Large-scale production facilities must use fluidized beds. The gas supply (pressure, temperature, flow rate) must be stable.

Cyclone drying employs a two-stage continuous gas-solid co-current drying process consisting of an air flow duct and a cyclone drying bed. The highly humid filter cake is pushed by a screw conveyor to the bottom of the gas flow tube, where it is crushed and dispersed by high-temperature, high-pressure, high-speed gas flow. The moisture in the resin vaporizes through flash evaporation, removing most of the water, and the temperature of the gas flow drops rapidly. The resin is carried by the air flow at high speed in a tangential direction into the cyclone dryer to remove any remaining moisture.

Air-flow cyclone drying is a good option; the design provided by Xuzhou Design Institute for our enterprise used Tsinghua University’s technology. The only downside is that the balance pipe between the drying bed and the air-flow tower isn’t very useful, so manufacturers who adopt this technology these days have removed it, replacing it with a cyclone separator. The steam consumption is around 0.5 tons per unit
