According to the HG20570.15-95 standard, for gases/vapors, a multi-plate arrangement should be used when it is required that the pressure behind the plate be less than 0.55 times the pressure in front of the plate. I completely understand this. My question is, when using multiple flow restriction orifice plates, how is the spacing between them determined? This standard does not specify any requirements regarding this, but I think there should be a certain distance between the orifice plates. How should this distance be determined? Everyone is welcome to discuss.
The distance between the two orifice plates should be such that the fluid can fully regain its flow pattern; however, this distance is not easy to determine. Therefore, the gap between the plates should generally be no less than 1DN; For pipes with DN ≤ 50, the plate spacing should be 200 MM or more; for those with 60 ≤ DN ≤ 100, the plate spacing should be 400 MM or more; and for pipes with DN > 125, the plate spacing should be 600 MM.

May I ask, “Therefore, the spacing between boards should generally not be less than 1DN”? ; Where do these values come from: for pipes with DN ≤ 50, the plate spacing should be 200 MM or more; for those with 60 ≤ DN ≤ 100, the plate spacing should be 400 MM or more; and for pipes with DN > 125, the plate spacing should be 600 MM? I need to discuss this with others and require a source to support my arguments; thank you.

It is recommended to refer to the relevant provisions of Standard GBT 2624-2006, Part 2: Orifice Plates, on measuring the flow rate of fluid in fully filled pipes using differential pressure devices installed in circular cross-section pipes.
