I haven’t been involved in process optimization yet, and I’m not sure how big the difference is between the knowledge required for process optimization and that needed for process design Is process optimization part of process design?

Process optimization involves making adjustments to the existing process; it requires a thorough understanding of that process in order to identify its bottlenecks and make appropriate changes aimed at increasing production, reducing the amount of waste generated, improving product quality, lowering the consumption of raw materials, and reducing the consumption of utility resources. In simple terms, design involves completing the construction drawings based on the process package, while meeting the requirements regarding fire safety, security, and environmental protection.
Design is inherently a process of continuously identifying problems and solving them; So process optimization is inherently a part of the design process.

There should be three concepts here: Process development refers to creating a new process route from scratch and determining the corresponding process parameters; Process design refers to the industrial implementation of an already developed process route; due to the scaling effect, unreasonable bottlenecks are inevitably present ; Process optimization refers to identifying the bottlenecks in existing industrial process routes and addressing them.
